What day is it?? What time zone are we in? How long have we been gone?
Ok, so I believe I am writing to you on Tuesday, Sept. 10 - my brother-in-law, Dana's bday. Hope he's having a good one! The time zone...I think we are still in central time...but I believe when we get to the Badlands we will be in Mountain time. With our phones and watches changing time automatically we don't seem to notice when it's changed. And we are on day 10. As long as we can remember the date we will know how long we've been gone.
Minou is still in his not-so-new place to sleep and has been up there since we left the campground in South Sioux City, Nebraska this morning. He has been getting accustomed to being a traveling cat. No more nerves and definitely exerts his attitude if I don't get up to give him some food in the middle of the night. He knows exactly what will piss me off. Scratching on my window covering, standing on me and jumping up into the cabinet, knowing I am wondering if he will suddenly jump on me, as is his routine at home, meowing...he has a certain I-want-to-eat sound. He really cramps me when he wants to sit on me when we are traveling, so today I am super grateful he decided to sit back there.
On Sunday, we arrived at our friends' home. The Gourleys!!! Super people. Meant to be friends. The day we met in Hawaii, we clicked and spent 10 days together and then June's visit we picked right up and again now, easy, comfortable and really we laugh A LOT!! We were treated to Mark's cooking. He smoked up some ribs and pulled pork (even I really liked it), John, of course, LOVED IT. And cooked some crazy good pork chops for me. And he made some great coleslaw. I have a new appreciation for it. Terri made some peach crumble (delish!). So we were definitely treated extra special. We met a friend of theirs, Terri and I took a short walk. We played cards - they taught us a new one, 5 Crowns, which I won - bwahhahahahaha. Terri wouldn't play that game with me anymore. They had a nice bed prepared for us, but we chose to sleep in the RV so Minou wouldn't be too lonely. Hopefully not to redneck for them. Mark had wondered how we dump our tank when we aren't staying at a campground, thinking we must have some options along our route, we should have said we'd be looking for his storm drain before we left and would most likely do it in our bathrobe and underwear. We shared our delayed wit with him later on. LOL.
John had noticed one of our tires was a bit worn, so after a delicious breakfast cooked by Mark and banana bread baked by Terri, Mark & John headed to a local tire place (recommended by one of Mark's friends) and promptly got the tire replaced. I was a bit freaked since with the RV they had my cat. But they only had it for a couple of hours and Minou probably didn't even know he was on his solo adventure. While the guys did that Terri & I headed to Walmart for a few things. We came back, met some more friends, played some more games (we showed them 4 Up - Charlie will correct me on the name, I can never remember it). It was fun. We departed about 3-ish. So grateful for the laughs and the visit. Until next time, Friends!!
More later!!!
